Lots of Links! Quaich 2024 Courses Announced

In Edinburgh this morning, Team Scotland Captain Michael “Wee Mikey P” Peyrebrune announced the schedule and course rota for Quaich 2024: Return to the Highlands. In an effort to play to his team’s strengths, Wee Mikey P has decided that the entire Quaich will be contested over ancient and traditional links courses in the north of Scotland. Eschewing more modern courses in the area, Mikey P has chosen Tain (founded 1889), Lossiemouth (founded 1889) and Brora (founded 1891) for the 16 golfers from the USA and Scotland to test their skills over the 3-day matches.

Leveraging his background as a “sports scientist”, Mikey P poured over historical performance statistics to make his course decisions. “Team Scotland has always played exceptionally well on courses designed by either Old Tom Morris or James Braid,” said Mike P.

“Who the fuck is Old Tom More Itch?” said James “Sheets” Moreland, when informed of Mikey P’s comments on course selection. “Just point me to the first tee and git ready to post that a kid from Shreveport is the new course record holder.”

But there does seem to be logic in Mikey P’s thinking. During Quaich 2014, the teams walked off Lossiemouth at the end of the second day of play with the Scots enjoying a commanding lead and the Americans scratching their heads about the undulating Moray linksland. However, American fans are quick to point out that the Scottish heroes that day were Graeme “H” Wilson and Kevin “Riddler” Riddle, neither of whom are part of the 2024 squad, having been unceremoniously dismissed from the team years ago.
